I basically spent all weekend doing scholarship applications and related things like powerpoints and essays. Bleh. I got a ton done though, which is happy. I'm waiting on one more reccomendation letter to get back to me, and then I'll be able to send in all but two of the scholarship applications, both of which aren't due until April. Whew. That's assuming my powerpoint works anyway; I'm testing it at my dad's office tomorrow after school. It better. I spent forever on that thing and I had to drag Anna and Sheller to help me do the technical part of burning music and a presentation onto the same CD and have them play together because it kept dying when I tried. And I was kinda sick all weekend too. So basically the only fun part of the weekend was youth. We hadn't met in a month because of holidays and trips and this senior adult dinner thing, so I was really glad I was able to go. We sang some of my favorite songs, did a random logic quiz thingie that my group won (a bunch of chips lol-we split them with everyone though; we think they just had some chips that they needed to get rid of before they went stale), and had to make a random invention out of a bag of random things like plates, cups, straws, and tape. There were all kinds of crazy things...from the "solar energy plant" my group ended up with (yeah we just kinda taped things together and decided that's what it looked like), to the group who made a machine that converts dog poop into English tea (omg GERMAN IS TAKING OVER MY BRAIN! I just typed tee), to the group that invented "the perfect boyfriend." That was adorable. They even named him and put a Schnappi T-shirt on him lol.
Yesterday was a pretty good day...still doing those rollercoaster emotions...So in tech theater this girl had a crick in her neck and I was like "ooo I'll fix it!" and I did and she gave me a hug and that made me smile a LOT because I made someone feel better. That seriously kept me in good mood for hours. How random is that?! I went to an AOSP meeting at church last night, where more good stuff happened. One of my favorite youth leaders talked to me about maybe tutoring his son for math, which is cool. I like tutoring; I kinda miss it this semester. Then I hung out with Melissa and her brother and we listened to Toby talk about AOSP. She asked who was volunteering to be an adult leader, and there were very few hands raised. Seriously like 6 people. And there are 2 adults per every 5 kids...and last year there were like 120 kids and we've added more churches this year. So Toby was all dissapointed and went off about how we wouldnt be able to do the project if more people don't volunteer...which got Melissa and I thinking...I'm 18...so I can legally be a leader. Barrett did is last year and I think he was only 19. So I talked to Toby and she said she would consider letting me be a leader if more adults don't sign up. I'm so excited. I would LOVE to be a leader on a mission project! I like to plan things and I'm good at teaching other people how to do things. I've taught a couple of people how to use power tools and it was really fun so omg I hope I get to be a leader lol. I want other adults to sign up too, of course, so that as many kids as possible can participate, but I would love for them to be one adult short and I could take the position.
Today...meh. Tech was fun...I mostly watched Jill play with a hot glue gun lol. Then I cleaned up the paint room, and oddly enough, I actually enjoyed it. I got to pull giant globs of congealed paint out of buckets and it was kinda cool lol. We had a concert tonight...meh...Mr. Rowe pulled us clarinets aside to complement us and tell us that we don't even need the wind ensamble kids and that we secured the "goodness" of one of the songs. So that was nice...but then I didn't get to see anyone afterwards, which was kinda sad, because we usually go out after concerts...and honestly I can't help but wonder if the others did. Yes I'm paranoid and it's probably stupid but oh well. I also found it a little odd that no one said good job except Mr. Rowe and a really nice saxaphone girl (Sam), not even my own parents, but w/e. They probably just forgot.

Post #250. That's excitingish I guess lol since I just happened to notice it.
Stuff that's happened in the last few days...I found a prom date :-) Marc and I are going to go together, as friends. I was worried about asking him at first b/c I didn't want to cause drama, but I checked it out first to be sure it wouldn't, so all is good. He randomly showed up at my house yesterday because he was out riding his bike near here, and the last time he did that I pouted at him for not visiting me when he practically passed by my house lol. So yay for not having to go prom-date-finding crazy anymore! The latest prom issue is dinner. I assumed pretty much everyone that went with us last year would come again this year, but apparently we're splitting up. So...I think it's down to Megan, James, Marc, and I for definites. I'm assuming Matt and Lauren will come with us but I haven't talked to either of them about it yet so I'll call them probablies. Last year I know Steven really didn't want to go with a group but I'm not sure if that'll change with such a small group, so he and Rachel are maybes as of now. Dena, Scotty, and Lynch aren't sure what they're doing yet so they're maybes too. I haven't talked to Zach and Laura yet but last year Zach didn't want to come with the group, and Anna and Sheller went with LRMS, so they're probably nots. Corey and Liz are most likely going with Karen and Mitchel's group so they're probably nots too. So we'll have a pretty small group, I expect, but oh well. At least there are four definites lol. If anyone else wants to come with us, let me know.
School stuff...German is still evil but I'm still doing well somehow. We had a Statistics double quiz on a unit we'd done an independent study on, and it was really easy and I thought I did really well...and we got our grades back today and I got the lowest grade I've gotten so far in that class. We didn't get to see the double quizes today though, so I don't know what I missed. I must've done something really stupid because it was all review from precalc that I think we even did in Alg. 2. So I'm mad at myself for that but oh well it didn't change my grade a whole lot. Lunch today was interesting...Let's just say we were a tiny bit worried about some people being too tipsy to drive/function afterwards. Not me of course...I'm the good one lol...but without a license I'm not much good in those situations. Tech Theater is still fun. We finished painting the set, and we spent Wednesday and Thursday spattering it...omg...never spatter if you can get away with it lol it's evil. My arm still really hurts. Basically, you put some paint on your brush, stand a few feet away from the wall you're spattering, and either slap the paintbrush against your other arm to make paint fling off onto the wall (which hurts and makes it really hard to aim), or do what Ashley and I ended up doing-shake your brush really really really really hard really really really fast to make tiny paint drops fling all over the wall. The bad part about this method, other than it making your arm rediculously tired and sore, is that just as much paint flings backwards as it does forwards...thus we were EXTREMELY paint covered. I had a doctors appointment after tech on wednesday, and I had to run in the bathroom and scrub paint off of my arms, face, neck, etc (luckily I had a change of clothes), and it was still all in my hair. Actually, even today, there is still some in my hair, after being washed many times. We kept flinging paint on eachother accidentally, which made us crack up constantly, so that was fun, but I didn't realize until I got home that it also ment some of the spattered paint flew in my mouth so I had some lovely blue and red spots on my teeth. My shoes look hillarious lol-Andrew Dunn asked me if I painted them and I was like "uhh...not intentionally!" The point of spattering is to add texture to the surfaces-we have brick buildings and they don't look worn or very 3D or anything, so we tried spattering to help that....Ms. Winter likes it, but Ashley and I think it basically looks like someone exploded and had some interesting colored blood. Seriously...You know when you play a gory video game and you shoot someone and the screen shows a big blood splatter? Thats practically what the walls look like now, except not only red, but blue, green, and pink. We haven't gotten to see what it looks like from the house with the lights on yet, since we just got a new lighting system that is still being worked on, so I'm hoping it wont look so strange from the audience's point of view. Band...If I can't think of the name of the song we played a few years ago I'm going to go nuts. I went through over half of the music in the band music library today and I couldn't find it and it's driving me crazy. We played it sophomore year, and it was really long-only like 3 pages but a ton of repeats and AHHHH IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE! I did find the piece Kara and I have been trying to remember the name of all year though-Jubulant Prelude. I'm typing it in here so I can reference it when we forget again lol. I'm going to go through my old blog posts and see if I mentioned that song around the concert time. Anyway, we haven't heard anything else about changing parts so I don't know what's going on with that, and the music we're working on for state contest sounds pretty decent-hopefully it will sound even better by Tuesday, which is our prestate festival concert at Athens Drive High School. We go on at 6:30 if anyone would like to come watch.
Guys and Dolls tickets go on sale to the public on Monday and they will sell out REALLY fast-they're already going like crazy just from actor's and techie's friends and families. So if you want a ticket, give me your $7 this weekend and tell me which night (March 7, 9, 10, and 11 at 7:30PM) you want to go. I'd love to go see an actual performance instead of the dress rehersal, but I don't want to go alone, so if anyone wants to come with me, any night, let me know!
Random thought of the day: You know that song, "When You Got It, Flaunt It" (it's in The Producers)? It's been stuck in my head all day. Don't flaunt it. Showing off something obvious only makes others feel worse, and when the other person is trying really hard to be nice about it, hearing that kind of thing is awful.

Wow it's been a long time since I've blogged.
Life has been a roller coaster lately. I've had days where all I wanted to do was cry and I've had days where I felt like dancing. It's weird though, because a lot of times it's totally random. The strangest things put me in the best moods. Like the other day...Anna asked me to edit a paper she had to write for English and it had been a horrible day and when she asked that it made me really really happy. And we had sectionals in band the other day and I was practically dancing around the music room-which is saying something considering the size of that room, the file cabinets, the table, 4 chairs and 3 music stands in it. It's a little strange but I guess that parts a good thing. Unfortunately it sometimes works in reverse as well.
German is still hard-I'm doing well but it takes me FOREVER to get anything done. I got a 98 on our last test but I only finished like 2/3 of it in class and had to come after school to do the rest. It's a good thing Frau is so nice about those kind of things; other teachers would say "oh well the blank parts will just be counted wrong." Stat is pretty easy and it's making me be a slacker lol. I hardly pay attention and I breeze through the homework I'm doing fine so that's cool. The labs we'll do at the end of the year sound fun. Normally they do them as the class goes along, but we don't have time this year because of the AP exam and starting so late. After the exam, we get to eat chocolate chip cookies to compare taste ratings to brand/price, do a cool launching thingie called "Gummi Bears in Space," and other such cool stuff. Sometimes I feel like I'm living for lunch and tech theater. I've been going off with Matt and Dave, and they're awesome, pretty much my only true Apex friends that are my age. Younger Apex people, don't get me wrong, I love you and you're wonderful, but this is about lunch and I don't even have the same lunch period as most of you and those that I do stay on. Anyway, Matt, Dave, and I have a tendancy to run into a group of kids from tech theater so we hang out with them sometimes too. They're nice. It's amazing to see how some people's personalities change when they're not around Ms. Bate lol. Tech is awesome. Set design is definitly taking longer than we expected, but it looks really cool. Stencils took FOREVER to cut out and laminate and cut out again and paint, but the letters turned out really cool, especially the ones on Ray's Bar. Mindy's...well let's just say I can't paint in a straight line to save my life but it turned out kinda wavey so I guess it looks ok lol. Everyone is like "woah" now that the letters are up, because before it was just a platform with a lot of random boxes on it and it looked kinda stupid, but now it's cool. So yeah, everyone come see the play! I can get tickets before they go on sale to the public, but if you want one you need to give me your money first! The play is March 7, 9, 10, and 11, at 7:30PM. Tickets are $7. If you want to go with someone in particular, you need to both give me your money and specify that because we have to pick actual seats, like row and numbers...I know all the Apexians are like "duh, this is how it always works" so this is mainly for the Broughton people who might want to come. Tickets sell fast and you can't buy them at the door because they'll be sold out long before then. So come see the play (Guys and Dolls) because Dave and Jill are in it and because the two of them and I did tech work! Wow that felt like an advertisement. Anyway, back to my description of stuff...Band is ok...we're working on State Contest music now...and I really really don' want to move down to 3rd part but I have a feeling I'm going to have to. And that sucks because I've never been on 3rd part, ever, and it's my senior year. Bleh. Amber and Marissa are both really good but I miss having the melody.
Social stuff...ummm....
Went to Ruth's party a while ago, which was awesome. I love that group of people. I don't know them all that well and yet I feel completely comfortable around them and that rules. Jonathan asked me to do something with them again a few days ago but I couldn't because of scholarship stuff, and that made me sad.
I went out with the Broughton people on Friday to see Pink Panther, which was hillarious though strange lol. I don't think I've ever seen any of the old versions so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I should've known that the Broughton kids always make me grin at anything, no matter how stupid, anyway lol. I love how people "whisper" (really loudly) comments in the middle of the movie so that all the people around us crack up...Like in the beginning it showed the cartoon Pink Panther and it kinda had a big butt and it was dancing and Brian was like "Man, look at that a**" and we all about died laughing because so many other people heard him. After the movie, I went back to Kelly and Lisa's house with Marc, and we watched Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang. I own it but I got it when I was really little and I watched the beginning, got bored, turned it off, and never finished it. I'm glad I did though; it's so cute! It reminds me a little bit of Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Then we laughed at Marc because he fell asleep during the movie and snored to the beat of the music-when it got faster, so did his snoring lol and it was really weird. I got to have my first "real" discussion with Lisa, which was nice. She's awesome and I'm glad we finally got to talk and get to know eachother better. Oh and Kelly and Marc officially make the best chocolate milkshakes ever!
I got to see Anna for the first time in AGES yesterday. We went prom dress shopping at Crabtree (we didn't even get lost! on the way there!) and I found a really pretty dress. It's a bright watermelon pink dress and not like anything I would normally pick out, but I really like it. It has a cool neckline thingie that looks like a halter but it isn't, and it kinda takes the place of a necklace so I don't have to find one to wear with it. It laces up in the back, which I was worried about, because mine did that last year and I had the worst time trying to find a bra I could wear with it and I went crazy with the one I ended up with...and this dress doesn't go far enough to the sides that I could even wear the one from last year...so I was skeptical when I put it on...and guess what?! IT HAS WIRE IN IT AND I DONT HAVE TO WEAR A BRA and that makes me really happy hahaha. I love saying things like that really loud in the middle of the mall and making people around me laugh hahaha.
So now all I need for prom are earrings...AND A DATE! WHO WANTS TO BE MY PROM DATE?
Oh and I still need someone to room with at UNCW. I still can't believe no girls I know from Apex or Broughton are going there that I know of. I emailed my guidence counselor earlier and asked if he knows who else is going so that maybe I can talk to one of them, so hopefully he'll get back to me on that soon, because housing info came today.
So other than that stuff, mostly what I've been up to lately is scholarship applications. I'm soooooo sick of them and I have a lot left to do. Yuck. You know what really made me think the other day though? One of the forms asked me to describe what a true friendship is and part of my answer was something like "A true friend is there when something is wrong but doesn't abandon you when everything is alright." I had my dad look over it before I sent it in, and when he got to that sentence, he asked, "Isn't that kind of backwards? I would think a true friend is someone who is there when everything is alright but doesn't abandon you when something is wrong." It shocked me. It made me kind of sad really, knowing that that's how my friendships have been this year-backwards. 90% of my friends only act like my friends when I'm upset about something. Backwards. It's just dissappointing to realize. Broughton people aren't like that-I can hang out with them and be accepted no matter what's going on. And most of the younger Apex people are fine too. But nearly all of the ones that I know the best and I've known the longest...our relationship is backwards.
Ok I'd better go work on my math hw
Leave me some comment love!

Hurray for updating instead of watching the Superbowl haha
I'm trying to remember what's happened at school lately...German alternates between me being too sleepy to follow a coversation, me not understanding what's happening because it's not in English lol, occasionally being amused by answers to the questions we do on the overhead (Weshalb had dein Auto abgebrochen? Mein Auto ist so alt wie deine Mutter! ~Hannah P's group. Warum hat der Verbrecher das kleine Kind gepackt? Er heiss Michael Jackson! I forget which group did that one), and talking with Brittany while we're supposed to be working, so at least that part is fun. Stat...We had our first test and I thought I did really well on it but apparently I'm retarded and made a bunch of really stupid mistakes on questions that I knew how to do, but I still ended up with a 92 on the test so it's not the end of the world. Tech theater is much fun, especially now that we've started painting. Ashley and I are in charge of painting Broadway, and I think it's going to turn out pretty cool. We should finish that in a few days and then I'm assuming we'll help the costume crew because they have a huge job. Band...bleh I'm 3rd chair, which means either 2nd or 3rd part depending who comes to help our class from wind ensamble...2nd for now though because I told Mr. Rowe I'd rather start hard and have to step down to the easier part than play easy for a while and have to move up...and because I'd rather play 2nd part than 3rd hehe.
Oh excitingish thing happened Tuesday...we were in 4th period, about to go to PAWS to get report cards, and then the fire alarm went off. We were all laughing, thinking someone pulled the alarm to get out of getting their report card, and so we just hung out in front of the school and talked and such. Then the fire trucks came, of course, like they have to whenever a fire alarm goes off...so we didn't think too much about it, still thinking someone had just pulled the alarm...and then they got the hoses out. Finally they let us back inside and told us to just get our stuff and go home, no reportcards, and we were dismissed a few minutes early. It turns out that some kids lit a paper towel dispenser on fire in the boys bathroom. They were caught and the school system is pressing charges...and it's a felony...I dunno who it was but it amazes me that someone would risk being charged with a felony just to light some paper towels at school on fire.
I finished driver's ed...went ok...I cannot stay in the middle of my lane...but I'm really good at 2 point and 3 point turns lol. I'm also better at right turns than left turns and I'm better at continuous turns than turns where you have to stop at the corner. Mr. Leary says I'm backwards from pretty much everyone he's had in the car before lol. Oh and that I'm one of few he's had to tell "speed up!"
Robert, my friend that lives in Texas, came up this weekend. We hung out for a while yesterday, Saturday, which was fun. He showed me some awesome DVDs of him playing his sax (and a soprano sax omg it's really cool and we need one at Apex! Especially since it's nicknamed the Golden Clarinet and that just makes it even more awesome). We went bowling and randomly ran into his cousin. Oh and I proved to him that bumpers are awesome haha. He's coming up again in around a month (he's considering going to North Carolina School of the Arts) so I'll hopefully be able to see him again then.
Last night was Queen of Hearts, the Broughton dance. Brian picked Hannah and me up and we went crazy trying to find IDs-I left mine at home, Hannah left her's at the bank and it was closed and her wallet with her permit in it was stolen, so she had to bring her passport and we went back to my house for me to grab my student ID. Then we went to Michael Deans and met up with some other Broughton people for dinner. We had the coolest waiter ever. He's half Russian, half Italian, and his parents lived in Ireland for a while so his first name is Irish. He was short but cute and there was definitly some flirting going on between some of the girls and him haha. So dinner was yummy...then we went to the dance, which was cool. I love Broughton lol. Even their decorations are awesome and their gym is two stories and they had a live band and they played a lot of really good songs and it ruled. Oh and they played the "She thinks my tractor's sexy" song and I decided it should be the Apex High theme song lol. After the dance we went midnight bowling...bowling in prom dresses and tuxes is fun hehe...especially when all the girls are worried about breaking nails. It was amusing. And then the not-so-fun part of the evening happened-Brian and I came to the mutual decision that we as a couple do not work. We'd both been thinking it for a while, and I know he planned on ending it today, and I was trying to figure out a day to do it because first it was his birthday, then it was almost QOH, then I didn't want to do it right after QOH and make it look like I only stuck with it because of the dance, and then it would be almost Valentines day and I was just stuck...so when I found out he wanted the same thing, I just decided to get it over with. He's a really sweet guy, but we're just not a good match for eachother. So...I asked Marc to take me home so that Brian wouldn't have to, and he and I got to sing Beatles music in the Mini again, much fun...Got home a little after 3 AM because he had to take other people that live far away home lol, so I got to bed around 4, and slept til around 1 when my parents woke me up. Then I spent the day doing homework and scholarship stuff and now it's bedtime so I have to go lol. Gnight!
