Updating because I actually got comments! including one from marc that said i need to talk about Nassau...so for the 20 min i have before bed, here's some updating:
We went to Nassua the day after Coco Cay. In the morning, we had a few options-free beach, snorkeling again, and uhh some other things I forget...well I think they took off the bus tour and boat tour and stuff because no one wanted to do them. Anyway, Corey, Melissa, Austin, and I chose free beach because it's stupid to go to the Bahamas without ever actually going to a beach (I'm not counting Cocoa Cay because of all the rocks-it hurt to walk out in the water because the bottom was entirely rock lined). On Nassau we had to be with a chaperone at all times, but we got Torey's mom and she was really nice so it all worked out well. We took a cab to another part of the island...which was interesting...The Bahamas used to be a Brittish colony so they drive on the other side of the road, so you'd think the cars would be like Brittish ones-drivers seat on the right side. Only like half of them were like that and the rest were like the USA. It was weird. Driving down there is insane. As much as I wanted to look out of the window to see the sites, it was really scary in the crazy traffic. Then we got to the beach and hung out there for a while, went swimming, etc. We wanted to build some kind of cool sand thing but we couldn't think of anything good so we finally just built a wall for the ocean to knock over with a trench in front of it. I found a few pretty shells. Later, we went back to the boat for lunch, changed, and then left the boat again. We got directions from another group on how to get to the straw market but uhh...they were wrong lol. After walking to a dead end, we finally asked a native who offered to walk with us most of the way since it was in the direction he was heading anyway. He was really nice and he's done a lot of traveling so he'd even been to North Carolina, so that was pretty cool. Finally we got to the straw market. There were a ton of people selling handmade things like straw purses, all kinds of things made from Coke cans (model cars, cameras, all sorts of cool stuff), candles, jewelry, and even wooden statue-like things. They worked on the goods while they waited for people to buy stuff so it was really neat to watch. I bought a straw purse for me that has flowers and "Bahamas" stitched into it and a dress for Hannah T. because I thought she wasn't going because she didn't feel well-turned out she went afterall lol and bought one too, but they were totally different styles so it worked out ok. After walking around for a while I got currious about the purses, because I saw that they all had premade straw weavings that they just had to stitch together and add designs to...and I was like "hey I wanna try that!" so I actually asked one lady if I could buy the raw materials to make a purse, and she let me :-) So I now have stuff to make a purse. Eventually, some day, I will hopefully actually stitch it lol. On the way back to the boat, we passed a jewelry store where I stopped and bought a shell charm to remind me of the trip-now I have one from Disney World (the MGM hat) and one from the Bahamas.
The next day was our "day at sea" so we just hung out on the boat. The last night I felt kinda sick again because we were moving so fast-a man on board had a heart attack so we moved faster than normal to get to land. They had an awesome dinner menu with a theme of "around the world" which made me very happy because they had one of my favorite Indian dishes, so of course I got it and it was delicious. I haven't had it since before Mahitha moved, when her mom used to make it someomes when I came over. We stayed up late talking that night in our cabin, playing "have you ever" and "ten fingers" which was a lot of fun. The next day we got back on land (ahh relief!) and onto the bus for the 12 hour drive back home...and there isn't much to say about a bus ride which is good because it's my bedtime lol. gnight!
